मुंबई महा पालिकेकडे मालमत्ता कर आणि विकास नियोजन म्हणजेच पुनर्विकासातून मिळणारे उत्पन्न हे दोन उत्पन्नाचे महत्त्वाचे स्रोत आहेत. मालमत्ता कररचनेत सुधारणा न झाल्यामुळे मालमत्ता करवसुलीत वाढ झालेली नाही. तसेच न्यायालयीन प्रकरणांमुळे मालमत्ता कराची संचित थकबाकी मोठी आहे. महसूलवाढीसाठी नवीन मोठे पर्यायही गेल्या काही वर्षांत पुढे देखिल आलेले नाहीत. अशात महसूल वाढीचा प्रश्न सध्या ऐरणीवर आहे.
Mumbai Municipal Corporation has two important sources of income: property tax and development planning, i.e. income from redevelopment. Due to the lack of reform in the property tax structure, there has been no increase in property tax collection. Also, the accumulated arrears of property tax are large due to court cases. New major options for revenue increase have not come forward in the last few years. In such a situation, the question of revenue increase is currently on the agenda.
